Baier, who is writing a consumer guide for women on how to survive breast cancer, met Mroz when they were members of Forward, a grief support group for people whose spouses have died.

"I believe Julie helped bring Christine to me," said Baier. Mroz agrees, "It seems like fate, doesn't it?"

The couple's clinic, which has treatment rooms dedicated to women who have died of breast cancer, strives to be less-threatening for anxious patients and families from its living-room décor, including a faux fireplace, in the waiting room to higher heat levels in patient areas. The muted pink color scheme and low light reduce stress levels and contribute to the concept of complete focus on a patient's needs and concerns.
