Mroz-Baier Breast Care Center
A CENTER OF EXCELLENCEThe Best Breast Care Center In America
Germantown NewsMroz-Baier Breast Clinic supports promise to Spouse By Marjorie Riepe Managing Editor If you do not know the names of the 10 different types of primary breast cancers, do not try to outsmart Joseph Baier, Jr., founder and president of the Mroz-Baier Breast Care Clinic. He can name them all. And if you are a doctor who has limited knowledge of the care and treatment of breast cancer then you need to be part of regular training classes at the clinic, a part of the medical campus of St. Francis Hospital. In 1990 Baier, a local businessman, made a promise to his dying wife, Julie Antoinette Bourgeois Baier, to fight against breast cancer. She lived 14 months after her breast cancer diagnosis, a cancer that had been treated as a benign cyst for three years. Unsure of the exact path to pursue, Baier did know improvements to mammography film quality were needed and no medical specialty on breast care existed. What he didn't know was what part his second wife, Dr. Christine Mroz, widow of Memphian Billy Loeb, would play in the fulfillment of the promise he made to his first wife. Six years ago, Mroz and Baier, began the Mid-South's first comprehensive treatment facility devoted strictly to breast care featuring mammography, ultrasound, stereotactic needle biopsies, and surgery when necessary. |
